Hyderabad: Investments in global capability centres (GCCs) by US-based AI and data science company Tredence Inc, and the expansion of its GCC by French consumer healthcare player Opella Healthcare, along with new vaccine manufacturing facilities by Indonesian animal vaccines maker Vaksindo Animal Health and a Rs 1,000 crore investment by Rx Propellant in setting up advanced laboratory infrastructure, were announced at the inauguration of BioAsia 2026 here.
Opella Healthcare, which was spun off from French biopharma giant Sanofi, announced an expansion of its GCC operations in Hyderabad through a 42,000 sq ft facility, where it plans to create around 500 jobs within the next year. These announcements were made in the presence of chief minister A Revanth Reddy and industries minister D Sridhar Babu.
This came as Tredence plans to set up a dedicated innovation hub for AI-driven healthcare and life sciences analytics spread over 18,000 sq ft, where it houses around 400 employees, and it plans to grow to around 1 lakh sq ft to accommodate over 2,200 people over the next couple of years.
On the other hand, Vaksindo, which is a division of Indonesia's JAPFA, will be setting up a BSL-3 vaccine manufacturing facility in Genome Valley to produce vaccines for poultry, cattle, swine and aquaculture.
Rx Propellant (RxP), which is an existing investor in Genome Valley, will be developing a large-format life sciences campus spread over 12 acres in Genome Valley that will house over 1 million sq ft of advanced laboratory infrastructure and will be delivered in phases over the next 6 years. The company will be investing Rs 1,000 crore on this project, Sridhar Babu said.
The inaugural session also saw Novartis mark 25 years of its GCC presence in India with the unveiling of a commemorative logo recognising Hyderabad as its largest centre globally outside Basel.
The inaugural session, conducted on the theme, "TechBio Unleashed: AI, Automation, and the Biology Revolution", also saw Prof Bruce L Levine of the University of Pennsylvania being awarded the Genome Valley Excellence Award for his contributions to cancer gene therapy.
On the sidelines, CM and industries minister held meetings with senior executives from companies such as Miltenyi Biotec, Sanofi, MSD, Takeda, Google DeepMind, as well as representatives from Indonesia.
