Hyderabad: Water tanker runs over engineering student

HYDERABAD: An 18-year-old engineering student who was on her way back home after writing a Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) examination died after the motorbike she was riding was hit by a water tanker near Uppal bus depot on Monday.


Medipally police said the deceased identified as M Akshitha fell down from the motorbike when the tanker hit her vehicle. The tanker ran over her. Akshitha was coming back with her relative T Shiva after writing the examination at Surya Techno College at Peerzadiguda. The victim was a resident of Ramanthapur.

Police have registered a case under Section 304-A (negligence causing death) of the

Indian Penal Code

(IPC).

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, two labourers were mowed down by a train in early hours of Monday when they were crossing the railway track near Malakpet. It was at around 12.30am when 48-year-old P Lakshmi, a resident of Ayodhya Nagar, and 45-year-old Yadaiah, a resident of Malakpet, were mowed down by the train when they were crossing the railway track.

Both were walking separately when they were mowed down. A case has been registered by the Government Railway Police (GRP).
