Police said the attack appeared aimed at forcing her to reveal access to valuables in her Swan Lake Apartments flat in Kukatpally. When she could not provide the information, the attackers allegedly tortured her to death.
After killing Agarwal, the men reportedly stole gold and cash from the flat, stripped her of ornaments, bathed, changed clothes, and fled on a scooter, leaving behind blood-stained garments.
CCTV footage helped trace their movements through Moosapet, IDL Lake Road, and Kaithlapur.
Five special police teams were deployed to track the suspects, one of which traced them to Ranchi, their hometown. Authorities also contacted a Kolkata-based manpower agent who had sent the accused to work in Hyderabad households.
Agarwal’s husband and son discovered her body after failing to reach her by phone. The postmortem was completed, and the body was handed over to the family.
