Hyderabad Metro ridership crosses 40 crore-mark

HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad metro rail announced that is ridership has crossed 40 crore-mark on July 01, since it's inception on November 29, 2017.
On this occasion, HMRL managing director, NVS Reddy, said that the metro is currently seeing 4.90 lakh passengers daily and this is likely to increase to 5 lakh in coming days. These 4.90 lakh passengers are clocking 6.70 lakh daily passenger trips.
MD further stated that IT employees form the biggest user base at 1.40 lakhs per day and since students form the second highest chunk of passengers at 1.20 lakh a day, a new student pass will be started from July 01 which will allow students to do 30 trips a month at the cost of 20 trips.

The new student pass can be availed by anyone born after April 1, 1998.
MD HMRL NVS Reddy said, "I appeal to the student community to make use of this opportunity and enjoy their travel even better now. They can avail 30 trips at the cost of 20 across all fare zones and they must mandatorily buy newly branded smart cards".
As per HMRL, only one smart card per student will be issued and it will be valid for 30 days from the date of its purchase. This offer will be available from July 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024.

Sudents can purchase the passes at the stations from 11am to 5pm on Red Line - JNTU College, SR Nagar, Ameerpet, Victoria Memorial and Dilsukhnagar, Green Line – Narayanguda and Blue Line - Nagole, Parade Grounds, Begumpet, Ameerpet and Raidurg.
On successful purchase of pass, students would also get discount coupons of various retail brands associated with Hyderabad Metro as well.
