Hyderabad in top 5 for travel bookings in monsoon

HYDERABAD: Mana city figures among the top five places in terms of people travelling this monsoon, according to online travel agents.
With rates dropping by 10% in the domestic travel market and long weekends lined up in July, people in the city are planning more vacations this monsoon, shows data available with online travel agent Cleartrip. “With monsoon being the lean season for travel operators, fares and prices have dropped.New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai are the top five cities from where maximum number of bookings, for monsoon travel, have been recorded,“ said Balu Ramachandran, head of air and distribution at Cleartrip. Other travel agents pointed out how millenials were their target customers this monsoon.
“We have already witnessed an increase in the number of enquiries by 2530%. It is primarily the double-income no-kids segment and those between 21 and 26 who are driving this market,“ said Karan Anand, head of relationships at Cox and Kings.
Vishakhapatnam, Goa, and Kochi have emerged as the top monsoon destinations for travellers from Hyderabad. However, when compared to last year, the number of travellers visiting Tirupati, which was the top destination earlier, has seen a dip this year.
According to hotel brand Oyo, Puri, Lonavala, Leh and Amritsar are the top destinations for 'offbeat travellers' this season.
Speaking of the monsoon holiday concept, Neelu Singh, CEO and director of Ezeego1.com said, "Short weekend trips are popular for quick monsoon getaways. Trekking, waterfalls, camping, wellness getaways and night forest trails are some of the experiences that top the preference list of monsoon travellers from the city. Waterfalls like Athirapally in Kerala, Dudhsagar in Goa, Nohkalikai in Cherrapunji are quite in demand this season. We have seen a 25% increase in our enquiries. Road journeys closer home are also very popular during the rains."
