HYDERABAD: A woman bludgeoned her husband to death with a boulder after a quarrel in Saifi Colony near Falaknuma on Wednesday.
The victim, Shaik Mohammed (31), an auto driver, was allegedly addicted to alcohol which often led to quarrels with his wife Fareeda Sultana, Mylardevpally police said. The couple's two sons were present at the house when the incident happened around 9.45 am on Wednesday, police said. Sultana has been arrested.
Mylardevpally inspector P Narender Police said that on Wednesday the argument escalated between the couple and Sultana first struck Mohammed with a stick before bludgeoning his head with a boulder, killing him on the spot. Neighbours informed Mohammed's younger brother Md Ayaz, who reached the house along with relatives from Falaknuma.
They found Mohammed lying in a pool of blood and alerted the police. Mylardevpally police later shifted the body to Osmania General hosiptal for postmortem.
"My brother was addicted to alcohol and had stopped working. He used to frequently quarrel with his wife for money to buy liquor," Ayaz said. Based on Ayaz's complaint, a case was registered against Sultana.
