Hyderabad end league phase with big win against Mizoram
Hyderabad: Hyderabad qualified for the next week's Plate group semifinal with another innings victory. On Sunday, the hosts defeated Mizoram by an innings and 73 runs for their fifth consecutive victory this season.Rohit Rayudu was named player of the match for his all-round show. Rohit took four wickets in the first innings, scored 60 runs and then took two more in Mizoram's second innings.Left-arm spinner Thyagarajan took five wickets for 74 runs while Rohit scalped two. Ravi Teja, Kartikeya Kak and Sanketh took one wicket each.Resuming at 458/8, Hyderabad declared their first innings after adding seven more runs. Kartikeya Kak was bowled by Lalbiakvela for 42.Mizoram made a poor start to their second essay. Opener Andrew Vanlalhruaia was trapped by Kak after adding 19 runs for the first wicket with Jehu Anderson.In-form Agni Chopra, who scored a century in the first four matches, was dismissed for seven with the team score on 38. He was snapped by substitute Rahul Buddhi off Ravi Teja. Three balls later opener Anderson missed the line and was cleaned up by Tanay Thyagarajan. The visitors lost their fourth wicket with only 55 on the board when Joseph Lalthankhuma was caught by Agarwal in the bowling of Elligram Sanketh. He made only eight.Mizoram lost their fifth wicket for 80 runs when Vikash Kumar was caught and bowled by Thyagaran for four. Lalhruaizela and Mohit Jangra added 30 runs for the sixth wicket. He nicked Rohit Rayudu to keeper Pragnay Reddy. He scored 26 from 49 balls. Rohit dismissed Jangra who made 37. Skipper Lalhruai Ralte was the top scorer for Mizoram. He made 40 before being dismissed by Thyagarajan.Brief scores: Mizoram 199 & 193 in 43.1 overs (Lalhruai Ralte 40, Mohit Jangra 37, Lalhruaizela 26; Tanay Thyagarajan 5/74, Rohit 2/43) lost to Hyd 465/9 decl. Andhra on top Visakhapatnam: K Nitish Kumar Reddy hit a century and A Lalit Mohan and KV Sasikanth bowled splendidly to place Andhra at the threshold of an innings win over Bihar in their Ranji Trophy Elite group B league match at the Moil Ul Haq stadium, Patna. At stumps on Sunday, Bihar were 170 runs behind Andhra with just two second innings wickets left.Andhra resumed at 313 for five and were all out for 463 in reply to Bihar’s 182. K Nitish Kumar Reddy and Sk. Rasheed batted well.
