Hyderabad: Three days after the Chaderghat police registered a case of suspicious death following the death of 34-year-old M Sirisha, the police on Wednesday arrested three persons, including her husband and sister-in-law.
Police said her husband S Vinay Kumar's sister T Saritha was the main accused in the murder.
After Sirisha died while undergoing treatment, her family members lodged a complaint with the Chaderghat police, alleging foul play and implicating Vinay Kumar.
During the investigation, the police sent Sirisha's body for a post-mortem, which revealed that she had died of suffocation. When the suspect Vinay was taken into custody and interrogated, he revealed the name of his sister Saritha as being behind the murder.
According to the police, Sirisha and Saritha had an argument on March 1. "Saritha had helped Sirisha in the past to get a job in a private hospital where she works as a manager. Due to work pressure, Sirisha quit her job. On hearing this, Saritha, who was upset, started an argument and later slapped her. The victim was also pushed. After some time, both reconciled," the police said.
Later, Sirisha asked Saritha to give her an injection as she was not feeling well.
Seizing the opportunity, Saritha injected the deceased with a high dose of Midazolam (which causes drowsiness) through an IV cannula. "After the deceased fell unconscious, Saritha suffocated the victim," the police said.
Later, Saritha informed Vinay and his nephew Nihal, who shifted the victim to the hospital on the pretext that she had suffered a heart attack. When the hospital authorities declared her dead, the accused tried to shift her body to Nagarkurnool and allegedly tried to perform the last rites.
However, on learning of her death, her family members alerted the police, who intervened and contacted the accused while they were transporting the body. Later, during the PME report, they discovered that it was a murder.
