VIJAYAWADA: An unidentified miscreant stabbed a housewife to death at Patamata here on Thursday.
The miscreant came to the house of K Kamalakumari, 28, on the pretext of renting a vacant portion. Suddenly, he pulled out a knife and stabbed her to death and escaped after snatching a gold necklace. The Patamata police launched a hunt for the miscreant.
In another case, Governorpet sub-inspector of police G Srinivas arrested two persons for murdering a man on August 4.
Assistant commissioner of police-1 D Ram Reddy told reporters here on Thursday that Mudavarapu Sai, 35, who sold cinema tickets in black market, was beaten to death in a drunken state by Tangella Papa Rao and T V D Prasad. Papa Rao too sold cinema tickets in black market while Prasad was the son of a retired police sub-inspector. Papa Rao and Prasad conspired to murder Sai regarding a dispute over sharing Rs 20, the ACP pointed out.
The two dumped Sai''s body in the Ryves Canal. The body has not yet been traced.
On August 5, Sai''s wife Parvathi complained to the Governorpet police that the former was missing. She informed the police that Papa Rao and Prasad took Sai from home the previous day. Based on this clue, the police uncovered the truth.
