The authority has procured two floating trash collectors at a cost of Rs 3 crore from M/s Cleantee Infra, Mumbai. As per the agreement, the collectors would be operated and maintained by the manufacturing agency for two years.
“The trash collectors would be deployed in the urban areas where the growth of water hyacinth is existing and problems is more. They will be shifted to other areas depending on the requirement to keep the lakes clean,” Municipal Administration principal secretary and HMDA metropolitan commissioner Arvind Kumar said.
Earlier, the HMDA had procured similar floating trash collectors in 2016 for cleaning of Hussainsagar Lake and procured two Dredging Utility Craft Machine and Long Boom Amphibious Excavators which are being deployed for removal of floating material, garbage and the remains of idols immersed in the Sagar lakes during Ganesh and
