HYDERABAD: A 50-year-old head constable was caught red-handed by locals when he was with a 35-year-old housewife at her house at Chatrinaka on Saturday night. After the incident, Hyderabad police commissioner M Mahender Reddy attached the erring policeman to the City Armed Reserve (CAR) and ordered an inquiry.
At 10pm, C Madhusudhan Reddy, a head constable with the Chatrinaka police station, went to the house of Lalita, a complainant in a domestic violence (section 498-A of the IPC) case at Sai Baba Nagar in Chatrinaka.
When Madhusudhan Reddy was inside the house with Lalita, her husband Chennaiah along with the locals, locked the main door from outside and alerted police.
"Based on a complaint lodged by Chenaiah, we have registered an adultery case against the head constable under section 497 of the IPC. At the same time, Lalita also lodged a counter-complaint against her husband and a local politician saying that they wrongfully confined her in the house. So, we have registered a case against Chennaiah and another person," deputy commissioner of police (DCP), South Zone, V Satyanarayana said.
Police found that Lata had lodged a complaint against her husband and in-laws alleging domestic harassment and a case was registered against them at the Chatrinaka police station under section 498-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) recently.
In relation to the case, head constable Madhu Sudhan Reddy used to visit the house of Lalita to serve notices and warrants to the accused. "It appears that on Saturday night, Lalita called the head constable to seek his help in relation to the case. But he should not have gone to the house in the night that too without informing the concerned SI and the inspector," the DCP added.
Following the incident, the Hyderabad police commissioner attached the head constable to the City Armed Reserve and ordered an inquiry.
