hyderabad: for the second consecutive day, the high court on tuesday pointed out holes in the investigation into the mysterious death of actress pratyusha. the two-judge bench - justice motilal naik and justice rohini - also ordered notices served on all daily newspapers published in the city to hear their versions of the incident. the budding actress was initially reported to have committed suicide by consuming a pesticide along with her boyfriend, siddhartha reddy.
while she died in hospital, he survived. since then, several questions have been raised about this version of the episode, resulting in speculation about it being in fact a murder. the bench also directed the state government to file an affidavit on the status of the inquiry since it transferred the investigation to the cbi. c v ramulu, senior counsel for the union government, had submitted that the notification transferring the case to the cbi was not available with the department concerned. the bench also wanted the register reflecting the submission of the final post-mortem report to gandhi medical college to be produced in court. dr muniswami earlier told the court that he could not send the final report as care hospital, where pratyusha and siddhartha reddy were admitted after allegedly consuming pesticide, was not sending the case sheet. the doctor also informed the bench that the negatives of the photographs taken of pratyusha’s body were also not returned to his office. the bench directed care hospital to file an affidavit to explain why it destroyed the clothes the actress had been wearing when she was brought for admission to hospital. the bench also express disapproval of the remarks made by the three-man expert committee justifying the action of the police and care hospital officials. the bench will continue to hear the matter on wednesday. meanwhile, telangana rashtra samiti (trs) leader k chandrasekhar rao on tuesday asked the government to provide security to sarojini, mother of actress pratyusha, as she was receiving threatening calls following the controversial death of her daughter. raising the issue during zero hour in the assembly, the trs leader said sarojini was the only person would could unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the actress. “her life is in danger and she should be given security,� rao said. he also wanted the government to immediately transfer sarojini from the high school in bommalaramaram in nalgonda district, where she is presently working, to hyderabad in view of the threats to her life. responding to the demand, legislative affairs minister y ramakrishnudu said the government would take all precautions about her security. earlier, speaking to reporters in the lobbies of the assembly, sarojini said that the progress of the investigation has been slow and alleged that nobody was interested in the case, as her family belonged to a scheduled caste community.
