Govt steps in to repatriate Telangana man’s body from Turks & Caicos
Hyderabad: The Telangana govt wrote to the Indian High Commission in Kingston, Jamaica, seeking assistance in facilitating the repatriation of the mortal remains of a man from Nizamabad who died in the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), a British Overseas Territory.Public representatives submitted petitions to the state govt over the past few days, urging it to intervene, after 35-year-old Bommakanti Aravind Goud died on Jan 6. As India does not have an embassy in TCI, the Indian High Commission in Kingston, which holds consular jurisdiction over the region, was approached for the necessary support.

Aravind Goud, a resident of Pachal Nadikuda village in Velpur mandal of Nizamabad district, reportedly died of a heart attack. He worked as a housekeeping supervisor for a private company in TCI since Sept 2024.In a letter addressed to chief minister A Revanth Reddy, Arvind's wife, Bommakanti Swati, sought govt intervention to bring her husband's body back to India. She also provided contact details of a local representative in TCI for coordination. Aravind had earlier worked in several Gulf countries before taking up a job in the Turks and Caicos Islands, sources said.
