Hyderabad: Task force police apprehended two workers of a gold refining store for cheating its owner and decamping with Rs 30 lakh cash.
The accused have been identified as Rohan Kadam, 20, and Muzammil Baligar, 21. On Thursday, Kadam was entrusted with 400 grams of gold to be delivered to a jewellery shop in Secunderabad in exchange for cash.
After receiving Rs 30 lakh from the jewellery shop, Kadam along with Baligar and two other accomplices, Pruthviraj Salunke and Prasad, fled the city in a car.
Police tracked them down and recovered Rs 29.92 lakh in cash, the Maruti Swift used in the crime and two cellphones, all worth Rs 35 lakh. Salunke and Prasad are on the run.
Meanwhile, police have appealed to jewellery shop owners to exercise caution while appointing workers and to verify their permanent residence and identity through documents such as Aadhaar card, PAN and driving licence.
