GHMC launches scheme for jobless youth

HYDERABAD: The GHMC has launched another innovative programme 'Drive and own your vehicle' for the unemployed youth.
Mayor Mohd Majid Hussain, who launched the scheme on Monday, said the corporation had started the unique scheme as the revenue of the GHMC had gone up considerably without increase in taxes.
GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar said as part of the programme, 21 vehicles, each costing Rs 7 lakh, were handed over to the unemployed youths under the scheme.Of the total cost, 15% of the amount was contributed by respective beneficiaries and the remaining 85% was provided by the corporation by way of loans. He assured that the corporation would subsidise beneficiaries' contribution of 15% based on their caste.
Meanwhile, Majid Hussain, Secunderabad MP Anjan Kumar Yadav and others launched swimming pool works at Indira Park. The mayor said the GHMC allocated Rs 75 crore for strengthening sports facilities in the city and, after the completion of the works, Hyderabad would become a sports hub.
