Furniture unit gutted at Bhavani Nagar

CHARMINAR: In a major mishap that occurred in Bhavani Nagar area of Old City late in the night, a furniture-making unit was reduced to ashes. The local pople alerted police after thick smoke billowed out from the furniture godown.
Two fire tenders from Moghalpura and Gowliguda fire stations were pressed into service and the fire was brought under control in two hours.The fire fighters had a tough time after the curious onlookers obstructed them. However Bhavani Nagar police swung into action and dispersed the onlookers.
The cops suspect short circuit behind the fire accident. "There were several inflammable articles including paints and thinners present in the furniture godown which might have aggravated the fire accident" said sub-inspector,V Ramesh.
The police are investigating into the case.
