Five Maoists including 2 teenage girls surrender in Mulugu

MULUGU: Five members of the outlawed CPI (Maoist), including two teenage girls, surrendered before the Mulugu superintendent of police, Dr P Shabarish, on Monday.

Addressing the media, Shabarish said that they were attracted to the Telangana govt's rehabilitation schemes for the surrendered Maoists and chose to return to the mainstream to lead normal lives. Two group, three men and two women, surrendered under 'Porukanna Vuruminna-Manavuriki Tirigi Randi', an initiative launched joiuntly by the CRPF and Mulugu police.

The surrendered Maoists were identified as Shyamala Rajesh, ACM, Sukma district; Kadithiduma and Badishey Bheema from Chhattisgarh; Uke Jogi (18), daughter of Sannu from Chhattisgarh and Muchaki Jogi (16), daughter of Lakma.

According to the SP, since Jan this year, a total of 73 maoists, holding various ranks, have surrendered. He urged the underground cadre to return to the mainstream and lead normal lives with their families.
