HYDERABAD: An engineering dropout who took to burglaries to meet the expenses incurred in dating his girlfriend was arrested by the west zone police on Friday. A total of 64 tola of gold ornaments, 2.5 kg of silver and a car was seized from him.
A Madhan Kumar, the prime accused, was arrested along with two receivers - V Chidananda Chary and Mirza Moin Ali Baig.
According to police, Madhan Kumar, who hails from Chittoor district, came to the city in 2010 to study engineering in Global Engineering College, Gandipet. During that time, he fell in love with Haritha, a classmate, and in order to lead a lavish life and foot the expenses incurred in dating Haritha, he took to robbery.
With the arrest of Madhan, 10 cases were cracked, the cops said. According to them, Madhan had stolen nearly one kg gold and sold most of it to his uncle Chidananda Chary. He and the two accomplices were arrested during vehicle checking on DK Road, Ameerpet.
