and assaulting the organiser. The accused also allegedly damaged the equipment of some media channels.

Trouble broke out during the press meet organised by members of National SC Reservation Parirakshana Samithi. “We organised the press meet to tell the world about the illegal activities at the social welfare residential schools. Five minutes into the press meet, we were attacked by Osmania University scholar P Alexander and his henchmen,” K Srishailam, president of parirakshana samithi, said in his complaint to the Punjagutta police. “RS Praveen Kumar, secretary of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Institutions Society (TSWREIS), is behind the attack,” he alleged.

“We have arrested eight persons. Some of them are students and the person who assaulted Srishailam has been identified as Alexander, a PhD student of Osmania University. We booked a case under sections 324, 427 and 506 of the IPC,” Punjagutta ACP Tirupatanna said.

Alexander later lodged a complaint alleging that Srishailam and his supporters had attacked him. Police booked a separate case based on his complaint. But, no arrests have been made.
