HYDERABAD: Even as all action has been shifted to Delhi with the Congress core committee is slated to meet on Friday to discuss Telangana issue, an edgy
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) pushed the party itself into a wait and watch mode on Thursday. While TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao ensconced at his farm house in Medak, the party leaders met at the party's secretary general K Keshav Rao's in Hyderabad and deliberated on the political strategy to be laid down depending on the outcome of the Congress core committee meeting.
While Telangana protagonists including leaders of Telangana Political Joint Action Committee (TJAC) wanted to meet hi, KCR is understood to have said he would talk to them only after Congress coming out with its stand on Telangana following the core committee meeting.
"We wanted to meet KCR on Thursday to discuss the prevailing political situation pertaining to Telangana. However, he said the meeting would make sense only after it is clear about the Congress stand on the issue," said Katti Venkataswamy, a co-convener of TJAC.
However, the TJAC will hold mass rallies at mandal level on Friday across Telangana, in a bid to step up the pressure on the Congress prior to the core committee meeting.
"Local committees of the TJAC would organize public progrmmmes like taking out marches, bike rallies in main towns across Telangana on Friday from morning to evening. Local leaders of TRS and BJP would take part in the programmes," added Venkataswamy.
Following the meeting at Keshav Rao's residence, a TRS politburo member B Vinod Kumar said the TRS was still skeptical about Congress as his party was doubtful about the
national party taking a clear stand on Telangana.
"We have seen many such meeting and deadlines. But, off course this is a high voltage drama as compared the earlier farce played out by the Congress, as the party is so far successful in create such a scene that it has made people seriously anticipating the outcome of the core committee meeting," Vinod Kumar said.
"While there might be so many options before the Congress as means to address Telangana issue, we think the national party would come up with a model that would suit its needs to win the next elections. The TRS will wait and watch, and think of further course of action depending on the emerging situation," added Vinod Kumar.
TRS leaders including Nayani Narasimha Reddy, former minister K Chandrashekar attended the meeting at Keshav Rao's residence.
