'Don't dispossess Bhogapuram airport farmers'

Hyderabad: Justice A V Sesha Sai of the Hyderabad High Court on Thursday directed revenue authorities of Andhra Pradesh government not to dispossess the petitioner farmers from the land to be acquired for the proposed International Greenfield Airport at Bhogapuram under Vizianagaram district until further orders.

The judge was dealing with a petition by Kondapu Ramana and 45 other farmers from Maradapalem, Koyyavanipalem and Gudepuvalsa villages of the mandal, challenging the notification issued by the district collector on August 31, 2015 exempting the provisions of Chapters II and III of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013, for acquiring land at Bhogapuram.
