HYDERABAD: Following direction fromthe twelth additional chief metropolitan magistrate court of Hyderabad, thecentral crime station (CCS) police registered a criminal case against formerTest cricketer and secretary of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) N ShivlalYadav and the treasurer of the association, P Yadagiri for allegedlymisappropriating the association funds running into crores ofrupees.
The CCS police registered an FIR and transferred it to thewhite collar offence team for further investigation.
The complainantin this case is C Babu Rao Sagar, secretary of Sagar cricket club affiliated toHCA and also a member of the sub-committee of the HCA.
In his privatecomplaint, Babu Rao alleged that Shivlal and Yadagiri had shown expenditure to atune of Rs 1.5 crore for installing simple products like television sets andrefrigerators at Uppal stadium in the city. Another Rs 50 lakh was shown asspent on lime light library and museum works, the complaint says. Another Rs 56lakh for interior works in the club house was also shown in the expenditurelist, Babu Rao said in his complaint.
He also charged the duo withspending more than Rs 2 crore for buying land at Nizamabad for the purpose ofdeveloping a cricket ground there without showing any sale deed or otherparticulars to the association members.
For purchasing diesel forgenerators an amount of Rs 23 lakh was shown as expenditure, he said. They werealso misusing funds given by BCCI to HCA, he alleged. "Though they are electedby the general body of the HCA for performing their duties in a fair manner,they failed to do so,'' he said. "My earlier complaints to the president of theassociation and also some legal notices have yielded no results and hence thiscomplaint.''
According to T Sriranga Rao, counsel for thecomplainant, police are now involved in the process of recording the statementsof the concerned. Though there were orders issued earlier by the chief judge ofthe city civil court, Hyderabad to entrust all those works whose value is morethan Rs 10,000 only after following a due tender process, Shivlal duo has beenflouting this order, he said.
