Hyderabad: The Telangana high court has directed that a NEET PG aspirant holding an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card be permitted to register for counselling under the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) quota.
The petitioner, Pamula Sushanth Reddy, was ordered to submit the requisite certificates once the updated guidelines for NRI quota seats are issued by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Directorate General of Health Services, govt of India.
Counsel for Sushanth Reddy informed the court that registration for NEET PG counselling for all-India and state quotas may commence at any time and sought permission to upload the sponsor's OCI card until the new NRI guidelines are notified.
Recording these submissions, along with the Union govt's stand that the petitioner must wait for the updated eligibility norms as counselling has not yet begun, the court granted interim relief.
On Sept 16, the high court allowed the petitioner to register provisionally under the NRI quota and posted the matter to Oct 8 for further hearing.
