Hyderabad: A family returning home from a holiday trip met with an accident near Siddipet on Tuesday morning when the car they were travelling in rammed into a stationary lorry parked on the roadside, killing a couple and leaving two others critically injured. The deceased were identified as Ravichandranath (49) and his wife, Sunitha (45), residents of Siddipet.
The accident occurred around 9 am on the Husnabad–Siddipet main road near the railway line at Mittapalli village in Siddipet district. The impact was so severe that the car became wedged underneath the rear of the lorry, trapping its occupants inside the mangled vehicle.
According to the police, the couple was returning from Bhadrachalam along with their son,
Ajay, and daughter-in-law,
Archana, after spending the summer holidays there. Archana sustained injuries to her head and right leg, while Ajay suffered a head injury. Local residents and police took nearly half an hour to extricate the victims from the vehicle. The injured were initially shifted to Siddipet area hospital and later to a private hospital in Hyderabad for advanced treatment.
Based on a complaint lodged by Ankam Prakash, Archana’s father and a resident of Narapally in Hyderabad, a case has been registered. The complainant alleged that the lorry was parked on the roadside without adequate warning signs or safety measures. Police said the lorry driver, Ambati Srikanth, has been booked for negligence and that further investigation is underway.
Ravichandranath was engaged in the interior design business in Siddipet. Police are examining all aspects of the incident to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the fatal collision.
