Bhaskar Goud has been demanding monthly bribes from the toddy seller identified as M Yada Goud, said N Sanjeeva Rao, deputy superintendent of police, ACB, Nizamabad range.
Sanjeeva Rao told ToI that Yada Goud had refused to pay monthly bribes to the excise officials saying that he was selling toddy as per rules and he did not indulge in adulteration of toddy. But as Bhaskar Goud continued with his demand and threats that he would book him in “some or other case”, Yada Goud approached the ACB.
“We laid a trap and Yada Goud agreed to pay Rs 15,000 monthly bribe to Bhaskar Goud. Yada Goud was called to excise station in Armoor. On the SI’s direction, Yada Goud handed over the bribe to the constable, who in turn gave the money to the SI. The constable was acting as a collection agent to the SI,” Sanjeeva Rao said, adding that the accused would be produced before ACB court on Friday.
