Congress tribal leaders seek pollticket from unreserved seats too

Hyderabad: Congress leaders from the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community on Sunday demanded that the party give tickets to adivasi leaders from even general category assembly constituencies in addition to the 12 seats reserved for them in Telangana. All India Congress Adivasi cell chairman Shivajirao Moghe said the ST community had played a crucial role in Congress victory in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The Congress also won 14 out of 15 ST reserved assembly constituencies in Karnataka assembly election, he said at the Adivasi Girijana Maha Sabha organised by the Congress. He said the party leadership should positively consider giving general category seats to ST leaders even in Parliament election. “The BRS government has done nothing for the adivasis. The development of the adivasi community is possible only with the Congress. The Nehru-Gandhi family’s love for the tribals is well known.”
