Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to launch Telangana panchayat poll campaign on July 4; to discuss political landscape & caste census

AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge is set to address 12,000 Congress workers in Hyderabad on July 4, launching the campaign for upcoming panchayat polls. He will also attend key TPCC meetings to discuss the political landscape, SC categorisation, and caste census.

HYDERABAD: AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge will address over 12,000 Congress workers, important leaders, and presidents of gram panchayat, mandal, and district-level PCC committees at LB Stadium on July 4, kick-starting campaign for forthcoming panchayat polls. The Congress govt is planning to go for rural local body elections in mid-August, subject to the court directions on the BC reservations in local bodies. Kharge would also attend the TPCC political affairs committee (PAC) and TPCC extended executive meetings at Gandhi Bhavan on July 4, where he would discuss with the top guns of the party about the current political situation, implementation of SC categorisation, caste census report, among other issues. Chief minister A Revanth Reddy and other ministers, along with TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud and AICC in charge Meenakshi Natarajan, would participate. Telangana Congress brass would also brief Kharge about the preparations for panchayat polls, Jubilee Hills bypoll, and GHMC elections. The AICC chief might also review the 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bheem, and Samvidhaan Bachao' rallies organised so far, and to be organised in future. A senior Congress leader told TOI that the AICC president has been visiting various states and wanted to address the panchayat, mandal, and district-level party committee presidents and other office-bearersto strengthen the grassroots network.
