Congress leader V Hanumanth Rao demands list of contracts given to AP and Telangana contractors

HYDERABAD: Veteran Congress leader

V Hanumanth Rao

on Wednesday kicked up a row by calling his own party’s ex-MP

KVP Ramachandra Rao

a covert and an advisor to the ruling

TRS government

.

Hanumanth Rao who is also the AICC secretary is likely to face disciplinary action by the party's disciplinary committee headed by

M Kodanda Reddy

.

In a letter to Telangana finance minister

T Harish Rao

on Wednesday, Hanumanth Rao charged the TRS-government of giving a majority of the contracts of various irrigation and other projects to Andhra contractors.

He demanded that the TRS government make public the list of projects given to contractors from Telangana and Andhra. The congress veteran found fault with Harish Rao for accusing the congress of favouring Andhra people by demanding that the Governor invoke section 8 of the AP State Reorganisation Act.

"As I had been saying from past three years that the KVP Ramachandra Rao is a known covert in Congress party and an advisor to the TRS government, if the unabated entertainment of Andhra contractors by your government is any indication,” Hanumanth Rao stated in the letter.

Defending the demand made by TPCC president N Uttam Kumar Reddy for the governor to exercise her powers under Section 8 of the Act, Hanumanth Rao in his letter stated he was surprised to see Harish Rao’s observations on twitter about the Governor’s discretionary powers as well as objectionable comments on PCC president and the Congress party.

"I strongly condemn your remarks. While attributing the false and ill-motives on PCC chief, you questioned why Telangana should still remain under the clutches of Andhra leaders even after six years of Telangana State being formed. Perhaps, you may be right in levelling this charge as your government is still giving huge contract works running in hundreds of crore rupees to the Andhra contractors in the irrigation sector," Hanumanth Rao stated in the letter to Harish Rao.
