HYDERABAD: Ahead of the upcoming general elections, Congress govt on Monday reshuffled 12 IPS officers and gave them new postings. In a surprise move, Tarun Joshi has been named Rachakonda commissioner of police replacing G Sudheer Babu, who was in the post for just two months.
The government order (GO) said incumbent Rachakonda commissioner Sudheer Babu has been transferred and posted as inspector general of police (IGP) (Multi Zone-II), a post presently held by Tarun Joshi. Incidentally, Sudheer Babu was appointed commissioner on December 12, just five days after Congress formed the govt. Sudheer Babu, however, would have the additional charge of IGP, Multi-Zone-I, too.
It is learnt that Sudheer Babu was transferred as his continuation in the top Rachakonda post would violate election commission guidelines. LS Chowhan was named Ramagundam commissioner during the previous reshuffle on December 12.
Among the 12 IPS officers reshuffled on Monday, DIGrank officer LS Chowhan was appointed as DIG (Jogulamba). In the GO issued, the govt said it was cancelling the appointment of Chowhan as CP, Ramagundam, and in his place, deputy inspector general of police M Srinivasulu was appointed CP, Ramagundam.
Though LS Chowhan was named Ramagundam commissioner during the previous reshuffle on December 12, he did not take charge following an objection raised by a minister.
D Joel Davis has been transferred and posted as joint commissioner of police (Traffic), Cyberabad, replacing Narayan Naik, who was appointed DIG, State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB).
CID superintendent of police (Women Protection Cell) K Apoorva Rao has been transferred and posted as SP (Vigilance), TSRTC. Telangana State Transco superintendent of police D Uday Kumar Reddy was transfer red and posted as DCP (South West Zone), Hyderabad.
Rachakonda DCP (SOT) R Giridhar has been transferred and posted as DCP (East Zone), Hyderabad. D Muralidhar, who was waiting for posting, is the new deputy director of RBVRR.
He replaces B Naveen Kumar, who was asked to report to the office of the DGP.
Additional DCP (Rajendranagar) Sadhana Rashmi Perumal, a 2019-batch IPS officer, has been transferred and posted as DCP Task Force of Hyderabad.
