Cong leaders meet governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, seek probe against Anjani Kumar

HYDERABAD: Congress on Tuesday petitioned governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, urging her to order an inquiry against Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar for his high-handed behaviour and denial of permission to take out ‘Save India, save Constitution’ rally in protest against CAA, NPR and NRC on December 28.
“Police gave permission to lathi-wielding RSS members to march on the roads.Consent was given to MIM public meeting in Darussalam. But, police not only denied permission to our rally but also arrested hundreds of party workers. Is Congress a banned organisation or an illegal outfit?” Telangana Congress president and Nalgonda MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy said.
A delegation of Congress members comprising Uttam, working president A Revanth Reddy, former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir, among others, submitted a memorandum to the governor. “There are allegations of corruption and misconduct against Anjani, which needs to be probes,” Uttam said.
Uttam added that all complaints received against Anjani would be forwarded to authorities once an enquiry is ordered. Congress leaders urged the governor to exercise special powers under section 8 of AP Bifurcation Act 2014 and take action against Anjani.
After bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Anjani was allocated Andhra state cadre but he continues to serve in Telangana by obtaining a stay order from court. “Has KCR not found an IPS officer from Telangana cadre who is fit enough to head Hyderabad police force? Anjani is doing chamchagiri of the ruling TRS,” Uttam alleged.
