Case against 19-year-old for performing street stunts on scooter
Hyderabad: Banjara Hills police booked a suo motu case against a 19-year-old for performing street stunts on his scooter. The teenager had uploaded videos of the stunts on social media, which went viral. Police seized the scooter and served him a notice.
On Monday evening, constable YB Prasad of Banjara Hills police station filed a complaint after noticing Instagram reels showing a rider performing risky two-wheeler stunts on roads near KBR National Park, Shameerpet, and other parts of the city.
Using the videos, police identified the scooter through its registration number. “The person was driving in a rash and negligent manner by performing dangerous stunts on public roads, thereby causing danger to public safety and endangering human life and personal safety of commuters and pedestrians,” the constable stated in his complaint.
Police identified the accused as 19-year-old Md Shadab, a delivery executive from Devarkonda Basti on Road No. 5, Banjara Hills. A case was registered against him under Section 125 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the BNS, 184 (driving dangerously) of the MV Act on Monday.
According to Banjara Hills inspector S Suhasan, Shadab is a school dropout who worked as a delivery executive and did not have a driving licence. Police seized the scooter, which is registered in his mother’s name. Officials said his mother may also face legal action for allowing an unlicensed person to use the vehicle.
