BRS MLA accused of ‘duping’ tribal family of 47 acres

Hyderabad: A cheating case has been registered against Medchal BRS MLA and former minister Ch Malla Reddy and others at Shamirpet police station for allegedly duping a tribal man and his family to surrender their ‘protected tenancy’ over 47 acres in Muduchinthalpally mandal of Medchal Malkajgiri district. On December 6, Shamirpet police received a complaint from Kethavath Bikshapathi (74) of Kasanpally village in the district where he stated that his family had 47 acres and 8 guntas in survey numbers 33, 34 and 35 of Keshavaram village in Muduchinthalpally mandal.“It is a legacy property inherited from our elders and the land was registered in my mother, Raji's, name as a protected tenant,” the complainant told police. “On November 3, the former minister and his associates Srinivas Reddy, Harimoham Reddy, Madhukar Reddy, Shivudu, Sneha Ramireddy, Ramidi Laxhmamma, Ramidi Neha Reddy along with a few others approached me saying that our family will get full ownership of land and made us surrender protected tenancy at Muduchinthalpally tehsildar office,” he said. “They gave 3 lakh to me and seven other family members and cheated us by making us surrender the protected tenancy,” the complainant alleged. Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under IPC section 420 and SC & ST (POA) Act. “We have written to the tehsildar seeking details regarding the allegations made in the complaint. Once we get the response from the tehsildar office, we will initiate appropriate legal action,” Shamirpet inspector M Niranjan Reddy said.
