BRS: Disqualify defected MLAs or we will take legal recourse

Hyderabad: The BRS plans to hold protests in front of the assembly as well as take legal action for disqualification of its three MLAs — Danam Nagender (Khairatabad), Kadiyam Srihari (Station Ghanpur) and Tellam Venkat Rao (Bhadrachalam) — who defected to the Congress.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday, BRS MLAs KP Vivekanand, Padi Kaushik Reddy and Kova Laxmi said assembly speaker G Prasada Kumar was not giving them an appointment to hand him the letter seeking disqualification of Kadiyam Srihari and Tellam Venkat Rao as MLAs.

Petition against Danam Nagender has already been submitted.

The BRS MLAs said they have no option left but to protest and approach the court. By-election to the three assembly seats were imminent as they will be disqualified at any cost, they said.

The BRS MLAs also ridiculed the Congress party’s manifesto promising to amend the Constitution to ensure automatic disqualification of MLAs or MPs in case of defection. While AICC leader Rahul Gandhi is preaching morals, his party’s chief minister is breaching them in the state, one of the BRS leaders said.
