HYDERABAD: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Friday took over the TDP MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy attack case from the Osmania University police.
Based on the complaint lodged by the TDP MLA's gunman, Govardhan, OU police registered cases under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting armed with deadly weapons), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 355 (assault or use of criminal force to dishonour a person) and section 7 (1) of criminal amendment Act.

Based on the video footage of TV channels, two persons who were part of the group that beat up the MLA were identified as Srikanth Raju alias Nagaraju of Aravapally village in Nalgonda district, who has a criminal history and, a city-based advocate, Rajiv Reddy.
However, no one was arrested so far by the police. On Friday evening, CID IG M Punna Rao along with his team went to the OU police station and took details of the incident. A CIT team visited the Art's College building where the incident took place.
"We have officially taken over the case and begun the investigation," the IG said.
The investigation will begin with the examination of TV channel footages and then continue with identification of the persons involved in the attack and recording the statements of eye witnesses.
Keeping in view the attack, police did not allow any outsiders to enter the university on Friday. Balladeer Gadar, who tried to meet the protesting students was sent back. However, some political leaders were allowed to meet the students.
Meanwhile, city police reportedly picked up JAC member Kishore and another OU student Amarender Reddy, who went to Chanchalguda prison on Friday to meet four of their fellow students arrested in connection with the violence in the city on Thursday.
