60-yr-old worker held for killing friend’s wife

Hyderabad: A 60-year-old daily labourer, K Babu Rao, was arrested by the Cyberabad police for allegedly killing his friend's wife after a rape bid at Kothur four days ago. Babu Rao went to the victim's home in the absence of her husband, tried to rape her and later killed her. Kothur police, based on clues and technical evidence, arrested him and sent him in judicial remand on Tuesday.Police said the couple was residing in a rented house at Kothur and worked as daily labourers. The accused got acquainted with them during work. A few days ago, the woman's husband went to his native place, leaving the woman alone at home.Taking advantage of this, the accused went to her home on Friday, made her consume alcohol and tried to rape her. When she resisted his advances, he killed her by strangulation and fled from the place, police said. On a complaint from her daughter, Kothur police registered a murder case and started an investigation.During the investigation, police got clues about Babu Rao's involvement in the murder and detained him. On inquiry, he confessed to have killed the woman, a Kothur police officer said.
