HYDERABAD: PCC president D Srinivas on Saturday appointed a three-member committee to look into the poor performance of the ruling party in the recently held election to the legislative council from the local bodies constituencies.
The members of the committee comprise Mandali Budha Prasad (former minister), senior leader Moturi Hanumantha Rao and APCC farmers' cell convener M Kodanda Reddy.
Out of the nine constituencies to which elections were held, the
Congress won three seats and lost the prestigious Chittoor seat from where chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy hails.
The party lost the Anantapur seat where the Congress had a clear majority because of members owing loyalty to former minister
J C Diwakar Reddy preferring to cast their votes in favour of the
TDP candidate. Similarly, despite a tacit understanding with the TDP, the party lost the Kadapa seat to a Jagan nominee.
According to the PCC president, the committee would submit its report in May.
