27 bikes stolen in Hyd recovered; three arrested

Hyderabad: Balanagar central crime station police along with Jeedimelta police have arrested three notorious thieves and recovered 27 bikes and an autorickshaw, all worth Rs 22 lakh from their possession. The three thieves used to travel from Vikarabad to Hyderabad by train and identify bikes parked on the road in isolated residential areas. During late night hours, they steal bikes using duplicate keys and sell them for a low price to locals at Tandur and Vikarabad. The gang committed 26 bike thefts in various places of the city. By analysing the CCTV footage at different crimes scenes, police identified the offenders as B Srikanth, 22, and M Bhaskar, 22, both auto drivers, and M Srikanth, 19, a labourer. They were arrested from their native Kamalapur village in Vikarabad on Tuesday. The offenders have criminal record and were previously arrested by Cyberabad police in 2022 in 15 theft cases. After coming out of jail, the offenders continued to commit bike thefts using duplicate keys, Cyberabad commissioner M Stephen Raveendra said.
