Ballari/Koppal: World Health Day was observed at Govt First Grade College in Koppal on Tuesday, highlighting the theme of promoting health through science and awareness. District health education officer Shivannand Pujari stressed the need for public health awareness, maternal care and disease prevention. Speakers also urged students to avoid unhealthy food habits and adopt exercise, yoga and meditation. Principal YB Angadi called on youth to prioritise health and avoid stress and addictions. Faculty members, Red Cross representatives and students participated. Similarly, the FPAI Ballari branch organised an awareness programme for pregnant women, with FPAI president TG Vittal presiding over the event. In his address, TG Vittal stressed the need for gender equality and balanced family life. Resource person Dr Chandana, vice-president of FPAI, highlighted the importance of regular check-ups, scanning, various tests, along with proper nutrition and rest. Branch manager S Vijayalakshmi explained the significance of World Health Day in her introductory remarks. Around 50 pregnant women participated and were provided scanning and blood test services after the programme.
