Women stop cops from arresting activist in Bagalkot
Bagalkot: A group of women allegedly stopped police, who went to arrest some activists in connection with the Shivaji Jayanti riot case, on Friday night. Former MLA Veeranna Charantimath intervened and convinced the women to withdraw their protest, and warned police not to provoke Hindus.Women alleged that police intended to arrest Muttu Magi and other activists in the Killa area. They immediately called former MLA Charantimath and MLC PH Pujar, and they rushed to the spot. Women complained that police behaved rudely with them. Charantimath told DSP Prashant Munnolli, CPI Biradar, and other cops that none should be arrested. "If you continue the same, then the situation turns worse. Law and order will be disturbed again," he added.

He also told the women that he would take care of all activists, and if police targeted someone, women can call him at any time.Meanwhile, Kadasiddeshwar Swami of Kanheri Math visited Rabkavi-Banahatti on Saturday. It was his first visit after the restriction on his entry was vacated by the Bagalkot district administration. He reviewed preparations for the Basavadi Sharanara Hindu Convention to be held on Sunday at SRA College ground. He said over 300 seers were participating in the event.
