With oxygen cylinder in hand, elderly man takes ailing wife on pilgrimage

Belagavi: An elderly couple from Pandharpur in Maharashtra, drew the attention of devotees at Mayakkadevi fair in Chinchali, Raibag taluk, on Wednesday when the husband arrived at the temple carrying an oxygen cylinder for his ailing wife. The woman, who suffered from breathing difficulties, was on oxygen support for the past few months. Despite her fragile health, she expressed a strong desire to visit the Mayakkadevi temple during the annual fair.Determined to fulfil her wish, the husband brought her to the temple, holding her hand with one arm and carrying the oxygen cylinder with the other. The couple have been visiting the fair for the past 15 years without fail. "After darshan, my wife is feeling better. It was her wish, and I wanted to fulfil it," the husband said.Lakhs of devotees throng the fair, which was underway since Jan 1. Moved by their devotion and perseverance, devotees made way for the couple amid the heavy rush.
