VTU to establish a quantum computing lab at Bengaluru campus
Belagavi: Underscoring the rapid pace of technological evolution, Prof. S Vidyashankar, vice-chancellor of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), here on Thursday announced that VTU is preparing to establish a dedicated quantum computing lab at its Bengaluru campus. He was speaking after inaugurating the two-day National Quantum Students' Conference and Symposium-2026, organised by the VTU Quantum Club, Jnana Sangama, here, in collaboration with the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC). "Quantum computing will play a transformative role across sectors in the coming years," he added. Prof AR Usha Devi of the department of physics, Bangalore University and TS Mahesh, head of the physics department at IISER Pune, spoke on quantum technologies. The conference drew participation from over 200 students and several resource persons, with more than 50 research papers scheduled for presentation over two days. VTU student club coordinator Prahlad Rathod and special officer Harish Bendigeri were present.
