Embarking on a mission to instil the teachings of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Ghandi in young minds, a few organisations that propagate Gandhian ideologies, have been persuading the managements to introduce khadi uniforms in their institutions.
Gandhi Vichara Vedike joint secretary Umesh Baligar expressed happiness over the decision of the managements. "In the coming days, more educational institutes are expected to toe the line," he said.
"In the past six months people associated with Gandhian organizations have approached at least 25 schools and colleges. They were guided by eminent personalities like writer-activist Patil Puttappa, Gandhi Bhavan president Srinivasaiah and others. They were told the need for holding activities to spread the ideology in the campuses in the wake of falling values and morals in the society," he said.
KLE director Shankaranna Munavalli said, "We have already introduced khadi uniforms in G K Law College, and are planning to start it at least in two of our institutes."
