Belagavi: Continuing its efforts to revive traditional water systems, Pyaas Foundation launched its third lake rejuvenation project of the year in Sulga village, marking a significant step towards sustainable water conservation in the region.
The 3.5-acre Sulga lake is being restored with a targeted completion timeline of one month. Once rejuvenated, the lake is expected to emerge as a vital water resource, benefiting nearly 2,200 residents and supporting around 4,000 cattle in the village.
The project is aimed at enhancing groundwater recharge, improving water availability and strengthening the local ecosystem, particularly during the dry season.
The initiative is being undertaken with support from Aniruddh Mohta, managing director and CEO of Bemco Hydraulics Ltd, under the company's Corporate Social Responsibility programme. The collaboration underscores the growing role of corporate participation in addressing rural water challenges and promoting environmental sustainability.
Members of Pyaas Foundation, along with local residents, participated in the launch, reflecting strong community involvement. The Foundation noted that such collective efforts are essential to ensure the long-term sustainability and maintenance of restored water bodies.
With this initiative, Pyaas Foundation continues to advance its mission of reviving traditional water systems and building climate-resilient communities across the region.
