Belagavi: District minister Satish Jarkiholi said that several schemes are being implemented by the govt for the comprehensive development of villages. The panchayat raj department should work effectively to implement these schemes properly at the grassroots level.
Speaking at the inauguration of the National Panchayat Raj Day celebration conducted at the Central Hall of Suvarna Vidhana Soudha on Saturday, minister Satish Jarkiholi said that a strong foundation was laid for the development of villages under the three-tier system of gram panchayat, taluk panchayat and zilla panchayat. The govt is always committed to the development of villages. The state govt is giving more emphasis on village administration to make Mahatma Gandhi's dream of Gram Swarajya a reality. Coordination between the legislature and the executive is important in providing basic amenities according to the population, he said.
Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar said that the role of the panchayat raj department is important in the village self-government and women empowerment as envisioned by Mahatma Gandhi.
Legislative council member Channaraj Hattiholi and ZP CEO Rahul Shinde spoke. State Finance Corporation chairman Mahantesh Kaujalgi, MLAs Babasaheb Patil, Ganesh Hukkeri, Asif Sait, police commissioner Borase Bhushan, district superintendent of police K Ramarajan, ZP deputy secretary Basavaraj Heganayak, Basavaraj Adavimath, Gangadhar Divatara and Ravi Bangarappanavar were present.
Ministers and dignitaries felicitated Prathana Patil, who secured first rank in the state in the SSLC examination.
