Hubballi: The Hubballi-Dharwad Ward Samiti Balaga Trust on Sunday inaugurated its new head office, Nagarikar Bhavan, released the Ward Mitra logo, and launched a new membership drive at Tapas Mansion in Hubballi.
Inaugurating the programme, senior journalist Arunkumar Habbu said the trust's effort to organise citizens for the formation of ward committees, as part of administrative decentralisation, was commendable. He described the establishment of Nagarikar Bhavan as a bold and meaningful step by the trust.
Habbu said the official release of the Ward Mitra logo and the launch of the membership campaign reflected the trust's commitment to ensuring that citizens of Hubballi-Dharwad receive quality basic amenities. He expressed hope that the court would soon deliver a favourable verdict in support of citizens' interests. He also said that despite being retired, he would continue to associate himself with the trust's initiatives.
Chief guest Basavaraj Kamadolli said several democratic countries were today embracing the philosophy of Basavanna. He added that if democracy is to truly protect citizens' interests, educated, ethical and committed individuals must come together, and praised the trust's efforts in this direction.
Karnataka Rajya Hiriya Nagarikara Kshemabhirudhi Sangha president BA Patil, leader Santosh Nargund, trust president Lingaraj Dharwadshettar and others were present.
