TenderSURE

road work at Shirur Park area in Hubballi has been fast-tracked. As per the latest update, 80% of underground utilities have already been laid. The road work is likely to be completed early next year.

Then PWD minister H C Mahadevappa and Hubballi-Dharwad Central MLA Jagadish Shettar jointly launched the 2.2-km road work on January 3. While Jana USP, a not-for-profit trust working on urban planning and design, has designed and detailed the construction drawings, NAPC is constructing the road.

told TOI that the underground drainage, stormwater drain and water lines are being laid.

“One side of road work from Tolanakere to Lakshminagar Circle is almost complete and concreting is yet to be done. Once that is completed, bicycle track will be laid. The road work will complete in December this year or January next year,” he said.

The corporator also said that Hescom is yet to shift the electricity poles. “We are asking Hescom to complete the shifting of poles. Apart from that, there is an encroachment near the bridge. The encroachment will be cleared in three days,” he said

The TenderSURE road, which is the first in north Karnataka and taken up at an estimated cost of Rs 35 crore, connects six extension areas such as Shirur Park, Siddeshwar Park, Chethan College area, Topalagatti Lake, Ravi Nagar and Akshay Park. It will have a width of 24m and uniform standard carriageway width from one junction to another. Footpaths, bicycle lane, bus bay, bus stops and parking bay will also be developed.

The road will also have dedicated corridors below footpaths to lay conduits of essential amenities such as electricity, water, sewage, OFC etc. This will eliminate the need to excavate the roads for repairs.

Stormwater drainage system will be constructed on both sides of the road to eliminate flowing or ponding of rainwater on road. There will be house connection for sewage, water supply and brick wall for laying gas line. Circles will be improved and LED lights will be fixed to electricity poles.
