Mobile tower collapses in Mundaragi
Gadag: A 100-feet-tall mobile tower, belonging to a private company and installed on a residential building, fell down at Jagrut Circle in Mundargi town on Monday evening after strong winds and rain. Some shops and bikes were damaged in the incident. Eyewitnesses said that the tower uprooted after heavy rains and wind. "Many electric and telephone posts fell or broke after the tower crash. Power supply was interrupted for hours. Since there was no traffic movement due to heavy rains and wind, no casualty was witnessed. If there was traffic, it could have been a tragedy. It caused a traffic jam in the area," they asserted. People expressed ire against the town municipal council (TMC) for permitting installation of a tower on a three-storey residential building. TMC chief officer Siddharaju Kattimani, officials of police, Hescom and other department officials visited the spot and assured of vacating the fallen tower soon.
