Man carries his grandmother, 90, atop Anjanadri Hill
Koppal: Anjanadri Hill in Anegondi, Koppal district, is believed to be the birthplace of Lord Hanuman. It has been a pilgrimage place and an adventurous spot for people to climb 575 steps all the way to the temple on top of the steep hill. Few devotees have climbed these hills with a rice bag weighing 105kg, jowar bag weighing 101kg in the past. Many aged and physically challenged persons offer their regards to the deity from a distance since they can't climb all the way to the temple. However, Ajay, a youth from Vijayanagara district, reportedly climbed the hill - while carrying his 90-year-old grandmotheron Friday evening. However, his adventure was not aimed to prove his abilities or to fulfil his wish. He said it was aimed to fulfil his grandmother's long-pending wish of having darshan of Anjaneyaswamy at Anjanadri Hills. As soon as Ajay's grandmother had darshan of Anjaneyaswamy, she expressed her gratitude to god and her grandson. Some local youths clicked some photographs, which went viral on social media. However, the youth and his grandmother did not wish to reveal their identity and returned to their village in the neighbouring district Vijayanagara.Their task has rejuvenated the long-pending demand of constructing a ropeway at Anjanadri Hill.
