Karnataka man shaves wife’s head, threatens to kill her over ‘affair’; held

BAGALKOT: A 31-year-old man was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife, tonsuring her head and threatening to kill her after suspecting her loyalty, police said on Tuesday. The incident occurred on January 31 in Todalabagi village under the limits of Savalagi police station. The accused has been identified as Umesh Kottalagi. According to police, a quarrel broke out between the couple after the husband suspected his wife of being in a relationship with another person. During the altercation, he allegedly used an electric trimmer to shave her head and threatened her with dire consequences. Superintendent of Police Siddharth Goyal said the woman later approached the police and filed a complaint detailing the incident. “The complaint mentions assault and the shaving of her head on January 31. There is no mention of dowry harassment or prior domestic violence. The accused was arrested and produced before the court,” he said. Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
