Investigation of Jain seer’s murder case gathers pace

Belagavi: The investigation into the case of the brutal murder of a Jain seer of Hirekodi Nandiparvat Ashram in Chikodi taluk has been stepped up. On Saturday, CID IGP Madhukar Pawar, SP Venkatesh Kumar and DGP MA Saleem visited the Ashram and Katakabhavi in Raibag taluk, where the seer was allegedly cut into pieces and disposed of. The CID team officials collected more information on the case during their visit.Belagavi North Zone IGP Vikash Kumar Vikash, police superintendent Sanjeev Patil, Chikodi DySP Basavaraj Yaligar and other senior officers accompanied the CID team.On July 5, the seer was murdered at his ashram in Hirekodi. A missing person's case was registered at Chikodi police station on July 7. Belagavi district police arrested the two accused within a few hours of registering the case. The dead body of the Jain seer was found in a borewell of Katakabhavi village in Raibag taluk, on July 8.The main accused Narayan Mali and the second accused Hasansab Dalayat are in Hindalaga Central Jail. The government entrusted the case investigation to the CID. From July 23, a CID team camped at Chikodi and collected more information.In subsequent developments, the police and CID team confiscated the personal diary of the Jain seer. They also interrogated more than twenty people who had been named regarding money transactions.
